AABA is partnering with Joliet Junior College, Lewis University, LEDA, and community organizations to connect Joliet and Will County residents with clean energy career opportunities.
The Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) Workforce Program offers free training to help eligible participants build practical skills and prepare for employment in the clean energy industry.
When applying, select “AABA-African American Business Association” when asked how you heard about the program.
Training and Support
Begin with bridge training that introduces clean energy careers, workplace skills, safety, and construction fundamentals. After completing the bridge program, participants may continue into specialized training, including:
- Electric vehicle technician
- EV charging station installation and maintenance
- Energy auditing
Participants receive a $13 stipend per instructional hour. Depending on individual needs, support may also include transportation assistance, childcare, and food support.
Who Should Apply?
Adults 18 and older in Joliet and Will County who are interested in developing new career skills are encouraged to apply. The program prioritizes individuals from communities affected by pollution, economic hardship, or underinvestment, as well as people facing barriers to employment.
The CEJA team will help determine eligibility and available training options.
Getting Started Is Simple
1. Complete the Lewis University Application
Start with the online application below. Be sure to select “AABA-African American Business Association” as your referral source. This helps us track our outreach and strengthen our community partnerships.
2. Complete a 30-Minute CEJA Navigator Phone Interview
After applying, a member of the AABA or LEDA CEJA Navigator team will contact you for an interest assessment and brief pre-screening to learn about your goals and how the program may fit your needs.
3. Connect With the CEJA Outreach Team
After your navigator interview, the CEJA Outreach Team will guide you through eligibility requirements, next steps, and enrollment into training.
